home at last + an illustration of kitty cats Mar 24, 2009by amanda3 Comments

Yea, it’s been a while. I started to slack, and that slacking will probably continue throughout the school quarter as things get busy and I start having a life with friends again :) Anyway, this is an illustration I did while in New York. I don’t have a title for it yet, and it’s kind of hard to see all the small details I put into it, but once I put it on my portfolio I will include some close up images.

It was a lot of fun drawing those big cats and putting together this composition. Something about seeing everyone in the city walking their tiny toy dogs made me want to create an image of a girl walking giant cats. A tiger, leopard, and lion seemed the perfect combination for a warm spring day on the streets of New York.

As for the last week of co-op, I kept busy at work and had a great last day. They bought a chocolate mousse cake to wish me good bye and promised me copies of the music video and history channel piece as soon as they are released. I went to MoMa on my last day in NY, and I think modern art is just not my thing. I didn’t enjoy it so much, but it was still neat to go and see some of the wacky stuff. I also went to Crumbs and purchased 10 cupcakes. They dissappeared within 3 days of me being home and I know everyone loved them. I tried a new flavor, cappucino, and it is decidedly the best with its creamy, light, coffee buttercream center, chocolate cake, whipped coffee icing, ground coffee powder, and chocolate chips. yum yum.

It’s really nice to be home, and hopefully I will crank out a small illustration this week, and if not, I refuse to feel guilty taking the time to relax and enjoy my free time while it lasts.
